Gscreen Spacebook Dual Screen Laptop

Gscreen Spacebook Dual Screen Laptop

If you ever think that you may have seen everything there is to see about laptops, then think again. There are other laptop makers that are now trying to challenge how typical laptops are being designed nowadays. One such example is the Gscreen Spacebook laptop.

The Gscreen Spacebook laptop may not be the typical laptop that you might see out in the market today. This unique laptop sports, among other things, a dual screen display. The Gscreen Spacebook sports two 15.4 inch screens that slide one behind the other. It is designed so that users may be able to do two things at a time. With the Gscreen Spacebook dual screen laptop, people may be able to watch a movie in one screen while surfing the Net on the other.

It has an Intel Core Duo processor and a 4GB RAM onboard so multi-tasking may not be a problem. The problem though is that the Gscreen Spacebook can become quite a heavy gadget at 12 pounds to have sitting in your lap. And with a price expected to go around US$ 3000, that is something worth considering too. But then, where else can you find any other dual screen laptops nowadays?

Nokia N900 Now Shipping

Nokia N900 Maemo phone

Only a few days to go and we will see for ourselves Nokia's first Maemo-based smartphone as the N900 is being shipped to Europe, Middle East, Russia, and North America. Set to compete against Apple's iPhone and BlackBerry by RIM, the Nokia N900 is both a mobile phone and a mobile Internet device. It runs on Maemo 5 Linux OS and the first Nokia phone powered by TI OMAP3 microprocessor with ARM Cortex-A8 Core. Apart from its touch screen display, the Nokia N900 also featues a 5-megapixel camera, portable media player, as well as e-mail and web browsing capabilities. Compared to other contemporary handsets, the N900 has a more "touch-friendly" interface and a customizable home screen that mixes application icons with shortcuts and widgets.

However, users in United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, and Austria are warned that the Nokia N900 will not be compatible with Hutchinson 3G SIM cards until a software update becomes available later in the year.

Nokia Booklet 3G Hands-On

Nokia Booklet 3G

People may have had their excitement over Nokia's Booklet 3G doused after learning about its hefty price tag (US$599 without contract or $299 with a 2-year $60 monthly subsidy), but they cannot deny the fact that this netbook could be the tech world's next best thing. They just could not resist the premium features this baby has: Lightweight, aluminum casing, two-finger-scroll touchpad, high-definition display, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, SD card reader, and support for hot-swappable SIM cards.

Engadget recently got its hands on a demo version of the Nokia Booklet 3G and tried out if it could deliver A-class performance. Unfortunately, it had some issues. For one, the review claims that the netbook (or mini-laptop as they would like to call it) has really slow web browsing speed, which Nokia clarified as something to do with the demo's use of British WiFi hence the slow speed. Meanwhile, its display has a weak viewing angle, especially from above, and appears dim overall.

Let's see how Nokia would resolve these hiccups in the coming months.

Those who speak in public frequently work hard to correct these verbal and mental errors. For some, they just want to plainly get rid of it.

So for those who are serious about correcting their verbal tics, how about using some bit of technology to do so? Here is a unique gadget that might just do the trick. Presenting the Buzzword Speech Recognition Wristband, a gadget that aims to shock the verbal tics out of you (pun intended, but also with all seriousness).

Up close, the Buzzword Speech Recognition Wristband may look pretty ordinary but with a high tech look. It sports a small display up front and can be likened to a small wrist watch. But it does more than that. The Buzzword Speech Recognition Wristband can recognize certain audible sounds like words or phrases that can easily be programmed into it. It alerts the wearer by sending an electric shock. The shock treatment is considered pretty safe, but one that is not easily forgotten also.

Tag Heuer Prosthetic Leg

Prosthetic legs have helped a lot of people who are burdened of having just one leg for the rest of their lives. These have been designed according to our understanding on the human anatomy and leg movement. However, many amputees feel that prosthesis does not fit their lifestyle, that it looks "more pathetic" wearing an artificial leg that makes them walk like Robo-cop.

Designer Koo Ho Shin has come up with a prototype of a prosthetic leg that aims to convert a utilitarian gear into a highly fashionable accessory that reflects the amputee's fashion sense, something that he or she would be glad to show off. And since the prosthesis is co-branded with Tag Heuer, expect a sporty and high-end feel to the artificial leg.

The project began by studying the body form, biomorphic shapes, then incorporating it with Tag Heuer's accentuated, bold, and glamorous details. After taking everything into consideration, from observing the current products in the market to the opinions of amputees who were asked during the development of this project, Koo Ho Shin came up with a revolutionary customized prosthetic leg that features a hubless knee made up of carbon fiber, one of the strongest materials today.

The specialty of this device is that it uses beam of light as a means of communication between the user and the computer. By confirming each key, only the correct selection is entered, which reduces errors and increases input speed.

Lomak

Lomak Features

This new concept device is no doubt very unique and so are all of its features but here are some of the detailed feaures of Lomak

  • Ergonomic layout with keys arranged in circles
  • Each key, or mouse function, must be confirmed before that "Key-stroke" is sent to the computer
  • Reduces errors and accidental inputs and improves the input speed
  • USB Plug and play with lightweight body and does not require software to run
  • Uses less power and can be used in a number of different ways

The Great new Concept

Lomak can be called as the new generation keyboard that will make user-computer interaction more healthy and will prevent users from developing the pain and stress like from those standard user keyboards. This will also allow people with physical disabilities to use computer in a much painless manner and ensure a healthy living. The Lomak concept idea is so good that it just won the gold medal at the 2007 IDEA design awards.

Gadget Blog Week in Review

Apparently this toilet -washer is a “greener gadget” because it saves energy and obviously space by utilizing the same water source. Which is all well and good BUT I don’t like it.

Here is why - LOOK at how close the toilet is to the washer. Do you know how much feces and urine inadvertenly splatters about whenever you flush! Call me a germaphobe (which I sort of am) but I don’t like the thought of my clean clothes being that close to the exit source of my twozies! I’m just saying….

Bluetooth Car Speaker: Speaker Hooks to Steering

With all the hands-free cell phone laws popping up around the country, more and more people are installing Bluetooth systems in their cars. And if that’s too spendy for you and you’re not a big fan of sticking those funny looking things into your ears, then maybe this will interest you.

This Steering Wheel Bluetooth Adapter allows you to speak directly into your steering wheel. It features a microphone and speakers, an LCD display, SD port, USB and FM-Out and just clips onto your steering wheel. And it’s affordable, costing only $63.

Of course, this thing needs a power source. Which means, you guessed it, you have to plug it into your lighter. Which would making a U-turn very tricky when you’re talking to Aunt Mary on Main Street.

Apparently engineers thought mounting this thing on the dashboard was too dangerous for drivers.

Well, there is a wireless feature I guess, but it has to be charged every now and then.
