The sharpness of the colors and the brightness levels are 2 of the many features that should make you proud of owning a BlackBerry Storm.

Combination of finger taps will perform different actions like zoom or scrolling through different pages. The internal memory of this smart phone is pretty low as you can’t basically do anything with only 256 MB of internal memory. However, thanks to the Micro SD card slot, you can extend the memory of your BlackBerry 9630 to a maximum 8 GB. Unfortunately, there is not wireless adapter included in this cell phone but there are a lot of other cool features like geo-tagging and included Bluetooth.

BlackBerry 9630

The BlackBerry 9630 comes with a 3.15 megapixels camera which is not going to take the best pictures ever but you can take good pics at a maximum resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. The camera has features like autofocus and LED flash and you can also use it to record videos. This cell phone runs using the BlackBerry operating system. You can use it to send all kinds of text messages: SMS, MMS, e-mail and instant messages. With the HTML browser, it is easy to stay in touch with the online world. There is no included FM radio on this phone but you have some games and a lot more which are downloadable. You can use this cell phone as a GPS thanks to the BlackBerry maps feature. The audio files formats supported by the BlackBerry 9630 are MP3, WAV, WMA and eAAC+ and the video files supported need to have MP4, WMX, H.263, H.264 extensions. Other features of this cell phone are the regular office ones like calendar, organizer and voice memo and you can also use you BlackBerry 9630 to work on documents like Word, Excel and even PowerPoint and PDF. The Li-Ion 1400 mAh battery included can last up to 5 hours of talk time and 336 hours in standby mode.

The BlackBerry Storm 9530

The BlackBerry Storm 9530 smartphone is finally available thanks to the Verzion Wireless, U.S. As we expected, this is another business mobile phone from BlackBerry Company, but for the first time, it comes equipped with a full touch screen. The BlackBerry Storm impresses by giving a lot of features into a sturdy and sleek form-factor.
As we said, this is another business smartphone made by BlackBerry. Even if at first look it seems to be a massive handset, it has only 112.5 x 62.2 x 14 mm in dimensions and 155 grams in weight. It’s true that these values are not very small but considering the dimensions of other older models, the BlackBerry Storm is a slim and light unit.

The BlackBerry Storm 9530

In design terms, we can say that the BlackBerry Storm 9530 smartphone comes with a case made of resistant plastic with a nice glossy aspect. With a case with rounded edges and the dimensions related above, this smartphone looks very nice and seems to be very comfortable in your hands. The front side is occupied by a 3.25 inches touch screen and only four simple buttons: Talk, BlackBerry Menu, Return and On/off. Unlike those keys used on Bold, these buttons are more proportional with the phone’s sizes so it looks more attractive. On the sides of the smartphone you will find a convenience key, two volume buttons and a mute key.

The BlackBerry Storm 9530

The most important feature of this BlackBerry smartphone, the touch screen, is excellent. With a dimension of 3.25 inches, this display has a native resolution of 360 x 480 pixels. Even if it supports only 65K colors, the images are clear and have great quality of colors. Anyway, with a great sensibility and being very responsive, this touch screen seems to be a good improvement for BlackBerry manufacturer. For taking photos, the BlackBerry Storm 9530 smartphone is equipped with a 3.15 Megapixel camera which can take photos at a maximum resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. With features like auto-focus, LED flash, image stabilization and geo-tagging, the pictures have a great quality with a nice combination between contrast and brightness. In video-shooting terms, this camera does a nice job. It is capable of recording clips at a speed of 30 fps with a QVGA resolution; this camera makes a good impression.

The BlackBerry Storm 9530

When it comes to connectivity, the BlackBerry Storm 9530 comes with the most common high-end technology features. Being a Quad-Band device and supporting GSM, EDGE, 3G and GPRS networks it will never stay without network. Other connectivity features present here are Bluetooth, microUSB and GPS with A-GPS support. The standard Li-Ion 1400 mAh battery is powerful. It is capable of keeping this smartphone on for up to 5 hours and 30 minutes of conversations and up to 360 hours in standby mode. These values are good for a smartphone powered by a Qualcomm MSM7600 528 MHz processor and having a lot of features like the BlackBerry Storm 9530.

The BlackBerry Storm 9530

In conclusion, the BlackBerry Storm 9530 smartphone leaves a nice impression. Being the first BlackBerry smartphone equipped with a full touch screen and having a price of $219, there is no doubt that his model is truly loved by customers. With such a small price, the lack of Wi-Fi and keyboard is not very important.

Bikini with built-in UV meter

Bikini with built-in UV meter

Now that you’re all maybe starting to think about your summer holidays, it might be an idea to think about ordering one of these cool bikinis with a built-in UV meter, especially if you’re a sun and sand type like me.

We’ve already featured a hand held UV meter on Coolest Gadgets, but the SmartSwim Bikini from Solestrom is the world’s first bikini to have a meter built into the fabric.

The meter is battery-powered with a lifetime of up to two years; and is waterproof of course! The UV meter displays an intensity “level” of ultra violet intensity on a scale from 0 to 20.

A person’s sensitivity to UV depends mainly on skin type, but as a general guide a level of 3-5 would be considered a moderate UV strength, with 8-10 being “very high” and anything above 11+ being extreme.

I had a look around the site to see if there were any men’s swimming trunks with a UV meter, but alas Solestrom only seem to offer products for women.

The SmartSwim Bikini costs about $170, but bear in mind that the stand alone UV meter we already featured cost around $25, and wasn’t waterproof.

Linux becomes only OS to escape PWN 2 OWN

After a week full of Red Bulls, Fruit by the Foot and dreams of In-N-Out, the mighty Sony VAIO loaded with Linux stood as the only machine unhacked by the end of the PWN 2 OWN hacking contest at CanSecWest. As you're well aware by now, the MacBook Air on display was seized in two minutes by the presumably well prepared Charlie Miller, and after two full days of work, Shane Macaulay and a few of his 1337 associates managed to crack the Vista rig on Friday.

Microsoft Office 2010 - Features & Details

Microsoft Office 2010
The next version of Office moved a step closer to reality on Monday as Microsoft released an invitation-only technical preview of Office 2010. Also, it won't show off the program's biggest change--the addition of browser-based versions of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and OneNote. Those so-called Office Web Applications are being demonstrated on Monday, but the technical preview of the Web apps won't come until later this year. For consumers, Microsoft

The applications, which run in Safari, Firefox, and Internet Explorer, are aimed at both expanding the number of Office users within businesses as well as holding the ground threatened by Google Docs and other Web-based productivity programs. On the desktop side, Microsoft plans a broader beta of the software later this year, with a final release in the first half of 2010. Word gets a collection of cool image effects that stem from the DaVinci Imaging Engine that was part of Microsoft's now-discontinued Digital Image Suite product. Word, as well as the other programs, gets a new "paste preview" tool that lets users hover over different paste options and see what their paste will look like before accepting that selection. Excel gets a new feature called Spark lines, which are tiny graphs that can fit in a single cell of a spreadsheet. PowerPoint picks up video editing features as well as the ability to create a video of one's presentation, including voice annotations. The Outlook e-mail and calendar program adds a conversation view feature, a la Gmail.
plans to make the browser-based versions a free part of Windows Live next year, but hasn't decided whether they will include advertising.

Sony's DVDirect VRD-MC6 Camcorder-To-DVD Recorder Creates AVCHD DVDs With 5.1 Sound

Electronic gadgets, Technology, sony,
Sony's new VRD-MC6 DVDirect is a new gadget and it looks and acts an awful lot like the previous VRD-MC10 and VRD-MC5. It can take 1080i video with 5.1 audio off your Handy cam’s drive or Memory Stick and shoot out an AVCHD DVD that plays back on compatible Blu-ray drives like the PS3. It can also transfer standard-definition home videos to DVD discs without the need of a computer from virtually any camcorder, VCR or digital video recorder. The new model includes Digital Video (i.LINK/FireWire/IEEE-1394), Composite Video inputs, and USB (for Sony hard drive, DVD and Memory Stick media-based Handycam camcorders). DVD video discs recorded in this manner are playable in most consumer DVD players.

In addition, the VRD-MC6 can directly record digital photos to a DVD as a slideshow or just for photo storage from any of the four popular digital camera memory cards. It supports slots for Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick Pro Duo media, Secure Digital (SD/SDHC) and xD-picture card™ media, or via USB from Sony hard drive, DVD and Memory Stick media based Handycam camcorders. The DVDirect VRD-MC6 will retail for around $229 at Sony Style stores and other major retailers around the country in September.
